The Visayas region would have enough power in the next five years with upcoming projects already in the pipeline, the Department of Energy said. At least 80 percent of these proposed projects are renewable energy resources located mostly in Leyte and Negros islands, adding at least 3,797 Megawatts into the grid. Energy Undersecretary Felix William Fuentebella said the Visayas grid is experiencing a yellow alert during peak hours from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. This, however, is not felt mostly by consumers as the power is still enough at this level.
