Vivendi says wants to sell 50% of Universal Music Group
French media group Vivendi said Monday it plans to sell up to 50 percent of Universal Music Group as it reported a drop in net earnings. As revenue dipped 1.4 percent at the music label to 2.6 billion euros ($3 billion), Vivendi's management team told the company's board of directors that an initial public offering was too complicated and instead recommended a "sale of up to 50 percent of UMG's share capital to one or more strategic partners, in order to extract the highest value." Vivendi said it expected a transaction in the coming months which would be completed by the end of next year. Vivendi's net profit slid 6.3 percent in the first half of the year to 165 m...

‘Nico, 1988’: Movie for muse who couldn’t shake her fame
At her 1960s peak, the German vocalist Nico was "Lou Reed's femme fatale," a glamorous superstar whose name was plastered across one of the most influential records of all time. But her days mixing with Andy Warhol and alternative U.S. rockers The Velvet Underground are far behind the drug-addled forty-something we meet in Susanna Nicchiarelli's upcoming feature "Nico, 1988." The singer, embodied in a pitch-perfect performance by the Danish actress and one-time Eurovision contestant Trine Dyrholm, is addicted to heroin and washed up, yet stubbornly content that she has remained true to herself. It is a movie not so much about Nico's fleeting brush with global celeb...

At the time, "Peanuts" was carried in hundreds of newspapers --- and at the height of its popularity, exposing the foibles of humanity through the shenanigans of a group of children and one crafty beagle. ONE Championship ventures into boxing
If there is one athlete who put Asia on the map of the international sporting scene, it is boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao. Pacquiao's in-ring achievements speak for itself as he is the only pugilist in history to capture major world titles in eight different weight classes and was long rated as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world by most sporting news and boxing websites. However, boxing's popularity in the Asian region is slowly ebbing due to several factors, including Pacquiao's imminent exit from the sport and the growing reputation of another form of combat sport like mixed martial arts. Boxing promoters such as Bob Arum of Top Rank tried to replicate Pacquiao's...
