MANILA, Philippines -- Despite their differences on the mining operations in the Philippines, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea mourned the death of former environment secretary Regina "Gina" Lopez. "We extend our condolences to the entire family and shall offer prayers for the eternal repose of her soul. Rest in peace, Gina," Medialdea said in a text message on Monday. In a statement, ABS-CBN said Lopez died Monday at the age of 65 after she succumbed to brain cancer.
