MANILA, Philippines---Filipino boxer Romero Duno scored a tight split decision victory over Mexico's Juan Antonio Rodriguez in nine-round slugfest to claim the North American Boxing Organization lightweight title at Fantasy Springs Casino in California Thursday. The judges scored 85-84 ,86-83 for Duno, and 85-84 for Rodriguez. Both fighters started out strong, landing heavy shots from the opening bell but it was Duno (20-1, 15 KOs) who connected better.
