MANILA, Philippines --- Before welcoming 2019, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde urged his subordinates to sustain the "trend" of lower crime rate recorded in 2018, as he also said the drug war must remain "relentless and strong" next year. Albayalde, who took over the helm of the police force in April, said its personnel should continue to sharpen strategies in order to once and for all put an end to the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country.
