MANILA, Philippines --- Malacaang on Saturday asked local government units in Mindanao to closely monitor their areas and take precautionary measures after a 7.2-magnitude quake struck off Davao Oriental. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tremor, which was initially reported as a 7.1-magnitude earthquake, was plotted 162 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental with a depth of 49 km. Philvocs has also issued a Tsunami warning to 11 nearby provinces.
