BEIJING ---China's railways are expected to transport 2.99 billion passengers during the Spring Festival travel rush this year, up 0.6 percent year-on-year, according to the National Development and Reform Commission. The country's railways saw an over 5 percent increase in total passenger transport capacity compared with a year earlier, while high-speed electric multiple unit trains hit more than 17 percent. Several newly opened lines at the end of last year also eased pressure for the travel rush, China Securities Journal said.
