MANILA, Philippines --- Nearly 500 convicts who are believed to have been erroneously released early based on the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) law have surrendered to different police stations nationwide two days before the deadline set by President Rodrigo Duterte, data from the Philippine National Police (PNP) showed. As of 7 a.m. Tuesday, a total of 457 convicts have surrendered after Duterte on September 14 ordered the surrender of all heinous crime convicts released based on the GCTA law, which shortened their prison sentences based on good conduct.
