MANILA, Philippines --- The Quezon City government has designated firecracker zones to ensure the safety of its citizens as they welcome the New Year. "We urge the public to use fireworks only within the permitted zones in the city. We hope everyone will cooperate with the city government in promoting safe and responsible celebration during the holidays," Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement on Sunday. Police stations under the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) are ordered to guard the fireworks zones.
