MANILA, Philippines --- A 5.5 magnitude earthquake rattled northeastern Mindanao on Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said. The quake struck at 4:42 a.m. at nine kilometers southeast of Carrascal, Surigao Del Sur. It was then followed by an aftershock with a 3.8 magnitude at 5:15 a.m. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. Phivolcs said that that tremor was of tectonic origin and had a five-kilometer depth of focus.
